BoiZ Story

Gamma Zeta Rho Fraternity started as a thought when two friends, Danyell Hall, and Kris Gardner were in a hotel room enjoying a weekend get-away on Saturday, August 11, 2012. Both women had been a part of another Greek organization which did not give them the feeling of a lifelong home for their skills and efforts.

It was at this time that Kris Googled the letters “Gamma Zeta Rho” and her research showed no other organization used those letters for an organization. She turned to Danyell and asked, “How would you like to be a Gamma Boi” after affirming her interest they moved forward to start the process of the birth of a BGLO for lesbian women. Kris then reached out to ask Cynthia Madere to be a part of the initiative and she stated she would not be a Co-Founder and she would only be a part of the birth of the organization if her partner from the East Coast, Whitney Middleton were to be a part of the organization.

After a little coaxing and explaining how this would positively impact the lives of LGBT aggressive lesbian women and outreach efforts to our communities, the four women were officially bound by an unbreakable link. With Cynthia Madere and Whitney Middleton putting the pen to the paper and the footsteps to the pavement, Gamma Zeta Rho Fraternity began to take formation and the journey began. The vision of GZR reflects the integrity, beauty, strength, courage, friendship, leadership, and sophistication which we work diligently to instill through our core values.

Through integrity, establishing an education-based format for potential members in order to ensure that our journey remains positive, and breaking down barriers towards Greek Unity, we set the bar high for our members and prospects. Our initiatives for securing of Philanthropic Services to the Communities in which we live and serve are constantly evolving, we never rest and always seek to improve upon our last unifying effort. Gamma Zeta Rho Fraternity, Incorporated was born to lift up those who have no voice, when no one is listening; even those who whisper can be heard.

Mission

The Gamma BoiZ of Gamma Zeta Rho Fraternity, Incorporated are a social and service Organization that is aware of the social changes and strive to adapt as we must all do in society to be inclusive of our reach in the community. Our Mission is to be inclusive of our complete Masculine of Center Lesbian, Transgender brothers, in our community. We see ourselves as a group of BoiZ who come from different walks of life, whose differences are the ties which bind us together in our journey.

Vision

The Members of Gamma Zeta Rho Fraternity, envision ourselves as a social network of people who have a connection to our community and allies who are grounded in truth, and dedication and operate with steadfast surety to stay true to our core values.

Purpose

GZR’s primary purpose is to provide philanthropic services for those in our communities with a need. Our Organization aims to build up that which has been torn down in our neighborhoods through our Core Values of Acceptance, Understanding, Valuing Differences, Change and Love.
